Fargo Fire Fighters Training on Frozen Red River
FARGO, N.D. (December 6, 2011) – The Fargo Fire Department would like to inform the public that fire fighters will be training on the Red River this week and next week by 2nd Street and 4th Avenue North. Crews will be practicing water rescue techniques such as cutting through ice, rescuing victims from cold water and testing ice rescue suits. This is only a training exercise and residents are asked not to call 911, if they see fire crews on the ice.
Because of the current, the ice on the Red River is extremely unpredictable and unsafe. Fargo fire fighters urge residents to be aware of the dangers of river ice and the importance of staying off the ice.
