The Mayor's Message

The Finance Department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for fiscal year 2022.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to The City of Fargo for its annual comprehensive financial report for fiscal year 2022. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. This is the 25th consecutive year the Finance Department has received this award.

Area gardeners and plant enthusiasts are invited to take in the “Edible Landscaping for the Northern Plains” presentation Monday, February 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carlson Library. Participants will learn how to grow more food with less effort using cold-hardy perennial crops that double as beautiful landscape plants.

The 8th Annual Northern Narratives 2024 writing project is accepting submissions of poetry, fiction and nonfiction writing through March 31.

The City of Fargo and Fargo Cass Public Health are hosting “Community Conversation on Ending Homelessness Together” on Wednesday and the public is invited to attend the events, which will focus on a community-wide discussion on realistic approaches to addressing homelessness. James Mathy, Milwaukee County Housing, will be the keynote speaker. He played an instrumental role in leading Milwaukee to a 45% reduction in homelessness since 2015. The first event will be Wednesday, February 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers. We invite you to attend in-person or via livestream at TVFargo.com. Then, at 7 p.m. at the Fargo Theatre, James will present “Realistic Approaches to Addressing Homelessness in the Metro Area.” This will include the screening of a short documentary and an interactive conversation of subject matter experts. Both events are made possible through a North Dakota Health Equity Grant.

On February 11, a ceremony was held to honor the life of fallen Fargo Police Department Officer Jason Moszer on the anniversary of his passing. He served six years with the Fargo PD and made an impact on lives in the department and with members of the community. We will continue to honor his heroic legacy and will never forget his sacrifice.
